SIR – As a cyclist-grandmother, I often use footpaths, always being aware of pedestrian priority. I use the Barneshall Avenue footpath to avoid heavy traffic on Bath Road.

Astounded at how expensive life is

IR – I have just returned from Christmas with my eldest daughter in Paris. I was astounded at how expensive life in the rest of the EU now is for us Brits with the pound worth barely a fraction more than the euro. And when you use our money changers it is at times even less. That’s about 50 per cent less than a year or so ago.

It is time to reduce the energy prices

SIR – Walking briskly along our deserted and freezing cold local High Street at 8.45am on Saturday morning after Christmas, I was amazed to see shops already open but with their doors wedged wide open.
